The Brunelleschi Pass in 2027

One tour operator says the pass that gets you up the dome will cover less from January. The cathedral's own ticket office says nothing of the kind. Here is what is known and what to check.

Walks in town, which sells dome tours on Viator, writes in its listings that from 1 January 2027 Giotto's Bell Tower and the crypt of Santa Reparata will no longer be included in the Brunelleschi Pass.

We checked the Opera's prices page and FAQ, the two places where the Opera publishes pass contents. Neither mentions 2027 or any change. Until they do, treat this as an operator statement, not a rule.

The quick answer

The Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore has not announced any change to the Brunelleschi Pass for 2027. Today it costs 30 euros and covers the dome, the bell tower, the baptistery, the museum and Santa Reparata for three days. One tour operator reports that the bell tower and Santa Reparata will drop out from 1 January 2027. Watch the official prices page, and read the inclusions on any 2027 tour booking.

Is the Brunelleschi Pass changing on 1 January 2027?

Unconfirmed. A tour operator says so in its Viator listings; the Opera's own ticket pages still describe the current pass and say nothing about 2027.

The claim is specific: from 1 January 2027, no Giotto's Bell Tower and no Santa Reparata in the Brunelleschi Pass. It comes from Walks in town, which runs the guided dome climb among other listings. Operators sometimes hear about changes before the public does, because they buy tickets in bulk. They also get things wrong.

The Opera's prices page still lists the Brunelleschi Pass as dome, bell tower, museum, baptistery and Santa Reparata, at 30 euros. The FAQ still tells Brunelleschi Pass holders they can visit the bell tower and Santa Reparata within three days without booking a slot. We found no Opera announcement and no Florentine press report of a 2027 change.

What does the Brunelleschi Pass include now?

The dome climb, Giotto's Bell Tower, the baptistery, the Opera del Duomo Museum and Santa Reparata, valid three days, for 30 euros. It is the only official pass with the dome.

The three-pass system dates from early 2022, when the Opera replaced its single ticket with Brunelleschi, Giotto and Ghiberti passes at 30, 20 and 15 euros. The prices have not moved since. The biggest change so far came on 1 March 2025, when the Brunelleschi Pass became a named ticket with an ID check at the dome.

The cathedral floor is free and in no pass. The Opera's own guided dome tour (50 euros) is the other official way up, with 30 minutes guided at the base and the climb on your own.

What would change if the report is right?

The dome pass would cover the dome, the baptistery and the museum only. To climb both towers you would need a second ticket, which today you do not.

Nothing has been said about prices, so we will not guess. The obvious effect is on people who climb both: right now one 30 euro pass does it, and the bell tower is the classic second-day climb. Under the reported change you would need the Brunelleschi Pass plus a Giotto Pass, or whatever the Opera sells for the tower by then.

Santa Reparata matters less to most visitors. It is the crypt under the cathedral floor, with the remains of the older church and Brunelleschi's tomb slab.

How would it affect tours that bundle the bell tower?

Tours that hand you a Brunelleschi Pass would lose the bell tower with it, unless the operator adds a separate tower ticket. Read the inclusions for your exact 2027 date.

Most dome tours here include the three-day pass, and the bell tower comes with it: the dome and terraces tour, the small-group tour and the dome ticket with 3-day pass all list it today. If the change happens, expect those listings to drop the tower from their inclusions, or to add a tower ticket and raise the price. Book a 2027 date and the inclusions on your confirmation are what the operator owes you.

Ticket-only resellers need extra care. The Opera's terms say tickets from unauthorised sellers can be refused at the door. Tourify Tours, which runs the ticket listing, is on the Opera's 2026 partner list, but its reviews include two complaints about missing dome tickets and a cancelled booking. Keep your confirmation and check the tickets the day they arrive.

What should you watch before booking 2027?

The Opera's prices page and FAQ, the wording on the Brunelleschi Pass when 2027 dates go on sale, and the inclusions on any tour you book.

The Opera announced the named-ticket rule ahead of time on its own site, and we would expect the same for any change to pass contents. Three places to check:

  • The official prices page, where the contents of each pass are listed.
  • The official FAQ, which explains what each pass lets you skip booking for.
  • The pass description in the official shop once you pick a 2027 date.

Until then, the safest move is a booking you can undo. The official pass is non-refundable; every tour on this site except the audio-guide ticket cancels free up to 24 hours before. We will update this post as soon as the Opera says anything, either way.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Brunelleschi Pass include the bell tower in 2027?

Officially, nothing has changed. A tour operator says the bell tower and Santa Reparata drop out from 1 January 2027, but the Opera's prices page and FAQ do not mention it.

Will the Brunelleschi Pass price go up in 2027?

The Opera has announced no new prices. The pass has cost 30 euros for adults and 12 euros for ages 7 to 14 since the three-pass system started in 2022.

Where does the Opera announce ticket changes?

On its ticket site, tickets.duomo.firenze.it (prices and FAQ pages), and in news posts on duomo.firenze.it. The named-ticket rule of March 2025 was announced there in advance.

Should I book a 2027 dome tour now?

If your dates are fixed, yes, with free cancellation, and read the inclusions for your exact date. The official pass cannot be refunded, so it is the riskier booking while the contents are unclear.
